Rev. Joshua Daniel Ward is the Senior Pastor of Omega Baptist Church in Dayton, Ohio. In addition to his work at the church, Rev. Ward also served the residents of Dayton as the Senior Civil Rights Investigator for the City of Dayton Human Relations Council from April 2012 to March 2018. He is a proud 2006 graduate of Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA., having received his B.A. with honors, double majoring in Business Marketing and Spanish. After graduation, he moved to New Orleans, Louisiana to help with rebuilding and community organizing efforts in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, and after spending one year in New Orleans, returned to Ohio to further his education, earning his J.D. from the University Of Cincinnati College Of Law in 2010. Having received a calling to ministry during his legal education, Joshua moved back to Dayton and enrolled in Seminary immediately following law school and received his M.Div. from United Theological Seminary in 2014.
Rev. Ward also serves the broader community as the current Board Chair of the Dayton Leadership Academies (a local K-8 Public Charter School), and a regional board member of American Baptist Churches of Ohio. His professional and volunteer efforts earned him a coveted recognition as one of the Dayton Business Journal’s 2017 Top 40 Under 40 professionals, recognizing emerging business and professional leaders in the Greater Dayton area.
Rev. Ward’s most prized and valued roles, however, are those of husband and father, which he shares with his wife Barbara, and three young children, Isaiah, Sophia and Theodore. Joshua has striven to model his life after the challenging words of Luke 12:48; When someone has been given much, much will be required in return; and when someone has been entrusted with much, even more will be required.
